It is a tradition Eric plays the most songs on the first night of the tour, so it is not a surprise he only played 16 songs instead of 18 songs tonight. The 2 songs he dropped are “Layla” and “Hoochie Coochie Man”. And there is a “major” change in the setlist: Layla acoustic instead of Driftin’ acoustic……It wasn’t a great concert by any means, just an average show. Eric played really well, he played a great wah wah solos on Anything For Your Love and Cocaine. Going Down Slow has a long intro and is a good version. The first half was good. But the concert was really spoiled by the extended solos by Tim Carmen …. The biggest problem is that the crowd – and more worrying – Eric loved it! After the sitdown set boredom starts to set in, it’s the greatest hits part of the concert. Eric looked ill, sweating a lot and was asking Lee Dickson to give him cough pills. That would explain why Eric dropped the Electric Layla, he sounded like he had a sore throat.
